PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI) has received international recognition after securing five prestigious awards at the Retail Banker International (RBI) Asia Trailblazer Awards 2025. The event, held in Singapore, highlights outstanding achievements in banking across Asia.

The Indonesian bank was recognised in five categories:

  • Best Retail Bank Indonesia
  • SME Bank of The Year
  • Best CSR Initiative
  • Excellence in Employee Engagement
  • Best Current Account Offering

Senior executives from BRI, including President Director Sunarso, Director of Commercial, Small, and Medium Business Amam Sukriyanto, and Corporate Secretary Agustya Hendy Bernadi, were present to accept the accolades.

Strengthening Indonesia’s Financial Sector

Speaking at the event, Sunarso described the recognition as a testament to BRI’s resilience and commitment to excellence.

“This recognition proves that BRI has consistently maintained strong fundamental performance despite challenging conditions,” he said. “It will motivate us to continue transforming, delivering the best services for our customers, and contributing to national economic growth through MSME empowerment and social initiatives.”

The bank’s success in securing the Best Retail Bank Indonesia award reflects its efforts to expand digital banking services, ensuring accessibility and convenience for its customers.

BRI was also named SME Bank of The Year, reinforcing its role as a key supporter of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). By December 2024, the bank’s total loan disbursement had reached IDR 1,354.64 trillion, marking a 6.97% year-on-year growth. A significant 81.97% of these loans—equivalent to IDR 1,110.37 trillion—were allocated to MSMEs, demonstrating BRI’s commitment to empowering small businesses.

Recognition for Social and Employee Initiatives

Beyond its financial services, BRI was also recognised for its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts. Winning the Best CSR Initiative award highlights its commitment to sustainability and community development. The bank has implemented various programmes aimed at supporting local businesses and improving social welfare.

The Excellence in Employee Engagement award reflects BRI’s success in fostering a positive workplace culture. The bank has prioritised employee well-being, professional growth, and an inclusive work environment, ensuring high levels of job satisfaction.

Leading in Business Banking

The Best Current Account Offering award further cements BRI’s position as a leader in business banking. By providing efficient and seamless current account solutions, the bank helps businesses manage their transactions effectively.

BRI’s recognition at the RBI Asia Trailblazer Awards underscores its ability to compete on a global scale while continuing to strengthen Indonesia’s financial sector.
