FPT, a global IT services firm and a Preferred NVIDIA Cloud Partner, has officially launched its FPT AI Factory in Japan, aiming to bolster the country’s artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities with a robust, full-stack computing platform powered by NVIDIA. This comprehensive facility is designed to accelerate Japan’s AI development, catering to the growing demand for high-powered, secure computing solutions as the nation strives to advance its AI and digital transformation ambitions.

Announced at the NVIDIA AI Summit in Japan, the FPT AI Factory provides an end-to-end infrastructure for AI development, featuring three main services. The FPT AI Infrastructure offers cloud services supported by NVIDIA GPUs, bringing a level of computing power that FPT says will significantly speed up AI model development and deployment. Complementing this, FPT AI Studio provides tools for building, pre-training, and fine-tuning AI models using NVIDIA’s NeMo, an advanced AI platform. Finally, the FPT AI Inference service, powered by NVIDIA’s NIM and AI Blueprints, facilitates the deployment and scaling of models for diverse applications across industries.

The AI Factory is integrated with over 20 ready-to-use AI products, primarily based on generative AI, which FPT believes will support rapid AI adoption and drive improvements in customer service, workforce transformation, operational efficiency, and cost savings. The infrastructure is powered by thousands of NVIDIA Hopper GPUs and the latest NVIDIA AI Enterprise software, ensuring high-performance computing for Japanese clients looking to accelerate their digital journeys.

FPT Chairman and Founder, Dr Truong Gia Binh, emphasised the strategic significance of this launch for Japan, explaining that FPT is committed to working closely with local businesses and government entities to support the nation’s AI growth. “Artificial intelligence continues to be a transformative technology for the entire world,” he said. “In collaboration with NVIDIA, we are establishing essential cloud infrastructure to support AI applications, particularly in Japan. FPT is fully committed to supporting the Japanese government, enterprises, and partners in achieving AI leadership,” Dr Binh added.

Japan currently faces a shortage of GPU-powered cloud solutions, a gap that experts believe is limiting its capacity for AI innovation and development. FPT’s AI Factory seeks to address this gap by providing Japanese businesses and government organisations with scalable, low-latency, and high-efficiency computational resources that support secure AI research and development. The facility, therefore, aims to position Japan as a leader in sovereign AI—AI developed within the country to ensure data security and local autonomy over critical technologies.

In his comments, NVIDIA’s Vice President of Enterprise AI Software, John Fanelli, said, “Japan’s focus on sovereign AI reflects the nation’s dedication to technological independence and security. The FPT AI Factory offers Japanese companies access to the latest AI infrastructure, reinforcing local expertise and promoting innovation.”

FPT is currently accepting pre-orders for the AI Factory, offering Japanese enterprises early access to the full suite of AI tools and cloud solutions along with consultations from FPT’s team of AI and cloud specialists. The pre-order programme also includes cloud credits and access to premium features, enabling clients to start their AI transformation immediately.

FPT’s collaboration with NVIDIA began earlier in April 2024, when the two companies announced a strategic partnership to develop AI Factories across regions. This joint effort aligns with their goal of expanding advanced AI and cloud capabilities globally, making FPT’s new AI Factory in Japan a key component of the nation’s digital future while strengthening ties between Japan and Vietnam in the field of AI.
