Ekoten Tekstil, a subsidiary of Sun Tekstil and a leading textile manufacturer, is at the forefront of sustainable innovation through the use of artificial intelligence (AI). By integrating AI-powered defect detection, the company enhances fabric quality while minimising waste, reinforcing its commitment to responsible production. Real-time AI monitoring ensures greater accuracy, optimises material usage, and significantly reduces the environmental impact of textile manufacturing.

“Our AI-driven systems allow us to detect and correct textile defects before they lead to unnecessary reprocessing, reducing waste and optimising resource use,” said Sabri Ünlütürk, Vice Chairman of the Board of Sun Tekstil and Ekoten Tekstil. “This technology strengthens both efficiency and sustainability in our manufacturing processes.”

Reducing Water Consumption with AI in Textile Manufacturing

Textile manufacturing is highly water-intensive, with dyeing and finishing stages contributing to nearly 20% of global industrial water pollution. By detecting defects earlier in the process, Ekoten Tekstil’s AI system minimises the need for re-dyeing and reprocessing, resulting in substantial water savings.

With climate change intensifying droughts across the globe, industries are prioritising conservation efforts. The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that droughts affect 55 million people annually, worsening water shortages worldwide. By improving efficiency and minimising excess water use, Ekoten Tekstil plays an active role in global sustainability initiatives.

Commitment to Sustainability and Inclusive Growth

Ekoten Tekstil’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond water conservation. The company has once again received an A rating from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Climate Change assessment, surpassing the textile industry’s global B average and the worldwide C rating. Additionally, it has retained an A/Leadership ranking in the CDP Supplier Engagement Ranking for three consecutive years, confirming its place among the world’s top sustainable supply chain leaders.

Beyond environmental achievements, Ekoten Tekstil places a strong emphasis on workplace inclusivity, ensuring that women play significant roles in leadership and production. This approach aligns with the company’s broader vision of integrating technological advancements with responsible business practices.

“Innovation is not just about technology—it’s also about fostering an inclusive and forward-thinking workplace,” Ünlütürk said. “At Ekoten Tekstil, we believe that sustainable success comes from both operational advancements and a diverse, empowered workforce.”

By maintaining a focus on AI, sustainability, and workforce inclusivity, Ekoten Tekstil continues to lead the way in responsible and efficient textile manufacturing.
