Colwyn Bay Print Business Takes on Schools Uniform Contract

A local printing company in Colwyn Bay has secured a significant contract to supply school uniforms for over 20 schools in Conwy county, marking a new chapter in the business’s expansion. PersonaliseMe Print Ltd, which recently moved to larger premises on Erw Wen Road, will fill the gap left by the closure of the beloved retail outlet Boppers, which has served the community for more than 47 years.

The closure of Boppers, a cherished institution in Colwyn Bay, was announced by its owner Joan Rossington, who expressed her deep sense of loss while also feeling proud of the legacy she leaves behind. Joan, who purchased the company from the Lewis family in 1999, described her 25 years at Boppers as “the most amazing” of her life. However, she decided it was time to retire and focus on her family, particularly her young grandchildren.

“I have seen the same faces come and go, different generations of families, and watched their children grow up to become parents themselves – it has been a privilege,” Joan remarked. She also expressed her gratitude to the loyal customers who have supported Boppers throughout the decades, acknowledging the difficult decision to close the store. However, she found solace in knowing that PersonaliseMe Print, led by owner Carly Brands, would be taking over a large portion of Boppers’ school uniform contracts.

Carly Brands, the owner of PersonaliseMe Print, welcomed the opportunity to continue serving the local schools and assured the community that the transition would maintain the standards set by Boppers. “Being local to Colwyn Bay, I know what an important role Boppers has played in the lives of thousands of people in this area. It’s an institution, and we are committed to continuing the Boppers legacy,” she stated.

With a workforce of four, PersonaliseMe Print provides a range of services, including embroidered and printed workwear, teamwear, and promotional merchandise. The new contract presents an exciting opportunity for growth and diversification for the company, allowing it to expand its reach and enhance its service offerings.

“This has come along at the right time and allows us to diversify and keep growing, so it’s a really interesting and exciting move,” Carly added. She also wished Joan well in her retirement, recognising the significant impact she has had on the community. “Joan has been a mainstay in the town and done so much for the area – we will all miss her very much,” Carly said.

The shift from Boppers to PersonaliseMe Print reflects the evolving landscape of local businesses in Colwyn Bay, with the latter poised to carry forward a vital service for schools in the area. As the community adapts to the loss of a long-standing institution, PersonaliseMe Print is ready to step up and ensure that the needs of local families continue to be met.
