Cequence Security, a leading provider of API security and bot management solutions, has announced a major expansion in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region. This growth comes on the back of significant customer acquisitions, strategic partnerships, and a strengthened leadership team. The company has seen impressive results, including a 193% increase in annual recurring revenue (ARR) in the region, positioning itself as a key player in cybersecurity across MEA.

Ameya Talwalkar, CEO of Cequence Security, highlighted the importance of APIs in modern digital transformation and the rising threats targeting them. “APIs are the backbone of modern digital transformation, but they are also the most exploited attack surface,” said Talwalkar. “We are not just expanding—we are transforming how businesses defend their digital assets.” Cequence’s AI-driven security solutions offer tailored protection, helping organisations meet regional regulatory requirements and address increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.

The company’s success in the region is evident through new customer acquisitions spanning various industries. These include a top Islamic bank in the UAE, one of the largest financial institutions in MEA, a major telecom provider in Turkey, and a leader in digital transformation within the energy sector. Additionally, Cequence has seen a 68% increase in partner deal registrations and an 83% rise in reseller partnerships across countries such as Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Egypt.

Cequence’s expansion will be further bolstered by the upcoming signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at LEAP 2025, which will solidify the company’s commitment to regional cybersecurity initiatives. As part of its long-term growth strategy, Cequence is also hiring for multiple roles across its departments in MEA, reinforcing its investment in local talent.

To accelerate its regional growth, Cequence has appointed Mohammad Ismail as the new Head of Go-to-Market & Sales for EMEA. Ismail, who has over 25 years of experience in cybersecurity, will be based in Dubai and is tasked with deepening customer relationships and expanding Cequence’s market presence. “Organisations need robust API security and bot management solutions. I look forward to leveraging my experience to expand our footprint and help customers stay ahead of evolving cyber threats,” said Ismail.

Cequence’s Unified API Protection (UAP) platform has already helped organisations across MEA address key challenges. The platform has been instrumental in securing APIs during open banking transitions, ensuring compliance for sensitive financial data, and detecting sophisticated API attacks using AI-driven threat detection. The company’s ability to offer comprehensive security, automated enforcement, and real-time monitoring has driven strong adoption in the region.

Investor confidence remains high, with Prosperity7 Ventures and Sanabil Investments continuing to support Cequence’s growth in MEA. Abhishek Shukla, managing director at Prosperity7 Ventures, expressed confidence in Cequence’s market leadership, stating, “Cequence is well-positioned to drive continued success in the MEA market.”

With a focus on innovation, Cequence has introduced new cloud and on-premises deployment options to meet regional data sovereignty requirements. The company’s enhanced partner enablement programs are also helping resellers and service providers build their API security expertise.
